SILVER NAUTILUS Many-roomed wonder With perfectly balanced form, A nautilus shell.
Pure gleam of silver Like this shining example Of Our Kingdom's art.
Now upon this day Atlantia's King and Queen Do recognize worth.
The Silver Nautilus, awarded this XX day of XX, to XXXXX By Ragnarr Blackhammer, Rex and Kyneburh Boithuile, Regina
Composed by Baroness Aileen McDonagh I chose the Japanese form of Haiku for its spare purity, which I feel best represents the purpose of this award. While the form is late 17th century, a similar form, the Tanka, was written through the late 16th and early 17th century.
SHARKS TOOTH The fiercely-attacking oaks of the Ocean Kingdom Bring branch, ash-point, and resounding battle-wheel to bear upon all enemies. But one field-defender played his points with greatest might, Made red the ringing fire of the mail-coat, reddened the whetstone's hollow, At Cariadoc's war, in the din of spears, was he found.
Black-Hammer of the Ocean Kingdom now invites the helmet-breaker into His hall -Good is the house of the mighty-antlered one- This wise gold-giver rewards those who gladden the eagles, He covers the mailshirt's place with the spear-point of the seabeast This will last forever unless mankind perishes or the worlds end, the praise of the King.
The Sharks Tooth, awarded this XX day of XX, to XXXXX By Ragnarr Blackhammer, Battle-Ruler and Kyneburh Boithuile, Fair-Adorned Willow
Composed by Baroness Aileen McDonagh I used kennings from Skaldskaparmal (the language of poetry) and Hattatal (list of verse-forms), as translated from Snorri Sturluson's Edda by Anthony Faulkes, and created some originals to compose this Norse-flavored text, which I hope captures the nature and purpose of the award of the Sharks Tooth.
