April 2005

Greetings to my fellow subjects of Atlantia!

If you have any interest in the poetic arts, please keep an eye on the Poeta Atlantiae website (http://poeta.atlantia.sca.org) - quite a wonderful amount of information and (you guessed it!) poetry from across the kingdom is being collected there. Meanwhile, I would like to share with you a short poem written in honor of Their Majesties Janos and Rachel as well as Their Highnesses Robert and Denise, and the excellent service given by the crown of our fairest of kingdoms. This poem is based on the 13th century Middle English lyric "Adam lay ibounden," but has a far more optimistic theme (and half the length).

Atlantyas honnour
Honoures mour wonne,
By seoxmonth crownes mygte
And dawne of newe sonne.
And al ys for oure loue,
The loue of curtesye,
Techyng manne to seke
Herte of cheualrye.

In service,
Olsk Buslavl'

Additional online notes: The current featured poet of the month for April is Lady Graciela Esperanza de Sevilla (from whom we have a fine offering!). The featured poet for March was Lady Ana Bek, who provided two poems for use on the site.

I am also happily accepting submissions for pieces to include on the 'Atlantian Bardic Poetry' aspect of the site - any piece of poetry, song, or story by an Atlantian author is welcome. The works are divided up by author through geographical region.
